What to watch out for when buying gifts to send abroad

When should you do your Christmas shopping this year

When to do your Christmas shopping this year

Are you wondering when to order your Christmas gifts so they arrive on time? Especially if you are buying personalized gifts online, proper planning is key. See below what you need to know to avoid delays and stress.

🎁 Personalized items take time

Unlike ready-made products, personalized items (with a name, message, design, etc.) are made to order. This means:

✍️ Printing or engraving
🎨 Quality control
🎁 Packaging (often in a gift box)

During periods like Christmas, orders increase dramatically – therefore, priority is given to those who order early.

📦 When to order for delivery in Cyprus

Until December 13 → to be sure you'll make it with Courier
Until December 18 → likely to be delivered, but without guarantee
After December 18 → hand delivery (pickup) or after Christmas

Note: GOTshirts also offers a pickup option from Nicosia for those who delay.

🌍 When to order for international delivery

Until December 5–8 → Europe
Until December 1 → USA / distant countries

Shipping outside Cyprus takes 5–10 business days depending on the destination. Don't wait until the last minute!

🎯 Personalized = not easily changed

Personalized products are not easily returned and cannot be corrected after production. That's why:

✅ Double-check the name or message you wrote
✅ Make sure you chose the correct color/size/design

If you are unsure, send us a message before completing your order. We are here to help!

💡 Bonus Tip: Plan for Secret Santa or Teachers

If you are buying for teachers, Secret Santa, or corporate gifts, the dates are even earlier: December 5–10.

Also, many products sell out as the holidays approach. The sooner you choose, the greater variety and certainty you have!

📌 Summary: When to order

🇨🇾 Within Cyprus: until Dec. 18
🌍 International: until Dec. 1–8
🎅 For schools / Secret Santa: from early Dec.

How to properly order personalized gifts online

Personalized gifts are unique, emotional, and unforgettable. However, for them to reach the recipient's hands correctly, a few important steps are needed in the ordering process. See below for the most useful tips to make your online purchase easy and without surprises!

1. Choose the right product for the right person

Start with "who will receive the gift." Is it a teacher? Mom? Friend? Child? Then, think about what kind of gift they will actually use: a mug, a bottle, a framed picture, or a gift box?

Tips: Avoid very complex designs if the recipient has a minimalist style. Also, consider whether the gift is practical or decorative.

2. Pay attention to personalization – small mistakes, big impact

When ordering a product with a name or message:

📌 Double-check the spelling
📌 Pay attention to lowercase/uppercase if they affect the design
📌 If it has an emoji or special character, make sure it is supported

At GOTshirts, you see exactly where the name goes and what font size it has. If you have a question, ask for a sample or preview.

3. See what's included – and what's not

All our products explicitly state what is included: from a gift box, to a small bag, tag, or label. Don't assume – read the description carefully.

If you are ordering for delivery to a third party (e.g., godmother or teacher), make sure it is "ready for gift-giving."

4. Pay attention to dates

Personalized products need 1–3 business days to be prepared, especially during peak seasons like Christmas. Add the shipping time (1–2 business days for Cyprus, 5–10 business days for international).

We recommend: Place your order at least 10 days before the day you want it delivered.

5. Fill in the shipping details correctly

Make sure you have filled in:

📦 Recipient's full name
📦 Address with postal code & area
📦 Recipient's phone number (for courier)

If you are sending it as a gift, you can put your own details for billing and the recipient's details for shipping.

6. Add a card or note

At GOTshirts, you can add a greeting card or a note. Don't hesitate to write it – often it's what makes the gift even more special ✍️

🎄 Extra Tip: Buy it early!

Don't wait until the last minute. A good personalized gift requires thought and production time. The earlier you place your order, the more certain you will have it on time – and with less stress 🎁
